Keen to get fit, flexible and build muscle? Well put on your dance shoes friends because Aquanation Group Fitness Coordinator, Emma Kleverkamp is here to help you shimmy your way fit.

Why dancing is so good for your fitness

“Dance workouts are a great cardio workout without you even realising it,” says Kleverkamp. She says while you’re so busy busting a move in Sh’bam or Zumba you’re actually improving your “coordination, balance as well as flexibility.”

Working out without even realising it? Amazing!

Mood boosting fitness

When in doubt dance it out is going to be your new motto. “Dance workouts are a great de-stressor, boosts your mood, it’s good because you get endorphins,” explains Kleverkamp.

In fact, they are such a mood booster that Kleverkamp reckons A lot of people will do the classes and without even realising they’ve got this massive smile on their face because a song might bring out a happy memory.”

Got no rhythm? Don’t worry!

If you’re not totally familiar with a dance floor, don’t sweat it. You do not need to be an expert. Kleverkamp recommends simply “allowing your body to just flow and go with the beat.”

The dance fan adds lots of newbies “try and hold themselves back, but once they ease up and they might not get the moves straight away but as long as they’re moving that’s what matters.”

So, in a nutshell, Kleverkamp recommends not taking things to seriously, having fun and to “let your body go with the beat of the music.”
